In her first book, psychoanalyst Platko tells her harrowing yet uplifting story. Born into an old New England family of Puritan stock, Platko entered her teens during the s civil rights era. Sexualized by her uncle Henry, whom she adored, she developed a dual personality: the dutiful daughter and the revolutionary devoted to the civil rights movement.

The Unseen lends a rich history and backstory to two amazing characters who are far from perfect, but perfect together. The added paranormal element was a little something extra that I needed from my TBR list right now. I am excited for Piper Sheldon and her future in the book world.
